Yearsley Group Celebrate 50th Anniversary

Yearsley Group, the Frozen Food Sales, Cold Storage and Distribution Company, are celebrating 50 years in business during 2005. To commemorate this momentous occasion a 50th anniversary Gala Dinner is planned during the Summer.

The company was started in 1955 by Harry Yearsley selling fruit and vegetables from a base at Rochdale in the North West. It wasn't until the early 70's that the company became involved in the frozen side of food. Initially wholesaling frozen food then adding storage and distribution by the late 1970's.

Today Yearsley Group remains a family owned and managed company and is a major player throughout the UK in the sale, storage and distribution of frozen foods. Yearsley Group sell branded and own label ranges of frozen foods to wholesalers, retailers, caterers and institutions in all sectors of the marketplace including Export. In Cold Storage and Distribution the company is involved in all parts of the supply chain.

The company boasts six Depots, two in the North West, one in Birmingham, one in the North East and a two in Kent. The fleet of 100 vehicles are based across the depots. Yearsley Group has a cold and chilled storage capacity of 110,000 pallet sites making it one of the largest temperature controlled storage and distribution companies in the UK.

Managing Director Harry Yearsley commented on the 50th anniversary, "We are thrilled to have reached this milestone in our company history. It has come at a time when the company has grown significantly and developed the required structure to effectively compete in all aspects of the frozen food industry. Some of our current initiatives include the building of an additional cold store on the A1 and a move into chilled and ambient food sales for Belfield. These projects confirm our commitment to invest significantly for future growth in all areas of the business."
